MCP
Connect
Connect Claude Code, claude.ai, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, or VS Code to the Graphon MCP server with OAuth or an API key.
Server URL
Graphon runs one remote MCP server. Agents use it to manage workspaces, members, API keys, buckets, and objects. Add this URL to your client. When the client asks for a transport, choose HTTP.
Server URL
https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcpSign in
A client signs in with OAuth or with an API key. OAuth is the default.
OAuth
Add the URL with no credentials. The server answers the first request with a 401 challenge, and the client finds the Graphon sign-in from it. Your browser then opens the Graphon consent page.
On the consent page, pick the role that the app gets: Admin, Editor, or Viewer. The list starts at your highest role in any workspace. The app never gets more than your role in a workspace. Pick the lowest role that the agent needs:
- Viewer reads.
- Editor also writes buckets and objects.
- Admin also manages members, invitations, and workspace API keys, and can delete or restore the workspace.
To disconnect an app, open Settings → Security → Connected apps in the Graphon app.
API key
A client that can send a header can use an API key instead. Send the key as a bearer token. The connection gets the key's role, so use a key with the lowest role that the agent needs. See Authentication & keys to make a key.
Header
Authorization: Bearer $GRAPHON_API_KEYTools
The server lists only the tools that the role of the connection covers. See Tools for every tool and the role that it needs.
Set up a client
Each client starts with the OAuth steps. When the client can send a header, the API key steps follow.
Claude Code
Add the server.
Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http graphon https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcpIn Claude Code, run
/mcp, selectgraphon, and sign in. Approve the connection on the Graphon consent page.
With an API key:
Add the server with an
Authorizationheader. The shell reads the key fromGRAPHON_API_KEY.Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http graphon https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer $GRAPHON_API_KEY"
claude.ai
Open Customize → Connectors. Click Add, then Add custom connector.
Enter
Graphonas the name and the server URL. Keep the default Authentication settings and click Add.Server URL
https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcpSign in when claude.ai asks. Approve the connection on the Graphon consent page.
With an API key:
When you add the connector, choose No sign in under Authentication. Under Request headers, add the header
Authorizationwith the valueBearer gak_..., your API key.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector in Organization settings → Connectors. Each member then clicks Connect.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
Open Plugins, select the plus button, and choose Create MCP App. Enter
Graphonas the name. Under Connection, choose Server URL and paste the server URL. Choose OAuth for authentication, then create the app.Server URL
https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcpApprove the connection on the Graphon consent page.
Developer mode is available on the Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education plans.
Codex
Add the server.
Terminal
codex mcp add graphon --url https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcpSign in. Codex opens your browser. Approve the connection on the Graphon consent page.
Terminal
codex mcp login graphon
With an API key:
Add the server to
~/.codex/config.toml. Codex sends the key inGRAPHON_API_KEYas a bearer token.~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.graphon] url = "https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcp" bearer_token_env_var = "GRAPHON_API_KEY"
Cursor
Add the server to
~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to.cursor/mcp.jsonin a project.mcp.json
{ "mcpServers": { "graphon": { "url": "https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcp" } } }Open Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP and sign in to
graphon. Approve the connection on the Graphon consent page.
With an API key:
Add an
Authorizationheader. Cursor reads the key fromGRAPHON_API_KEY.mcp.json
{ "mcpServers": { "graphon": { "url": "https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:GRAPHON_API_KEY}" } } } }
VS Code
Add the server to
.vscode/mcp.jsonin your workspace..vscode/mcp.json
{ "servers": { "graphon": { "type": "http", "url": "https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcp" } } }Start the server. VS Code opens your browser to sign in. Approve the connection on the Graphon consent page.
With an API key:
Add an
Authorizationheader. VS Code asks for the key when the server starts..vscode/mcp.json
{ "inputs": [ { "type": "promptString", "id": "graphon-api-key", "description": "Graphon API key", "password": true } ], "servers": { "graphon": { "type": "http", "url": "https://api.beta.graphon.ai/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${input:graphon-api-key}" } } } }
Files
To store content that it writes, such as text or JSON, an agent calls write_object. To upload a file from disk, it calls create_object_upload_url and runs the curl command that comes back, so the file does not pass through the model. For many files, or files over 200 MiB, use graphon objects put from the CLI.
